Thanksgiving

This year, I am in charge of preparing a Thanksgiving feast for 14 people. I have cooked dishes before but never the entire meal. I start the prep tonight because I have a 3.5 month old and I know it will be hard to get everything done in one day.

As I meal plan and prep the food, I start to think about all I am thankful for. I am most thankful for Kara. I was told, it would be impossible to have children. After I suffered my first miscarriage I was beginning to think it was true. Kara is truly my miracle baby. Next, I am thankful for my mom. She is and will always be there for me. I can do no wrong in her eyes. Finally, I am thankful for the man in my life, Jeff. He is a wonderful mate and father. I could not have asked for anyone better to share parenthood with.

I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.

The Beginning

I put together this blog for friends and family who do not have access to myspace or facebook. Kara came into this world on August 15, 2008 at 6:00pm. She weighed 9lbs 11oz and was 21 1/2 inches long. When we got out of the hospital she weighed 8lbs 15oz. I was looking at old photos tonight and I noticed how swollen she was. She mostly lost water weight while she was in the hospital. Her delivery was a simple one. I had a scheduled c-section after ultrasounds showed her well over 9lbs. and the amnio determined her lungs were fully developed. Instead of arriving in September, she arrived in August (only 3 weeks early). Because her glucose levels were very low, Kara spent her 4 days in NICU. It was hard being apart from her and not getting to hold and see her when I wanted to. Because I had the c-section, I wasn't able to go to the nursery unless someone could walk with me.
Kara turned three months on November 15th. These past three months have flown by. Although, Kara was a surprise baby, I don't think she could have came at a better time. My family has been through so much in the past year. I have no doubt she was sent to be the light in the time of the storm. Her smile cheers you up and takes away all the stress from the day.
