Baby Food Adventure

This weekend, I decided to give Kara some carrots. She has done so well with the rice cereal, I thought she could use more variety. I wasn't prepared for the mess. For some odd reason, she feels the need to suck her thumb after each bite. Maybe she thinks she still has to suck instead of swallow. The pictures below show the mess.

The final result was a very messy baby:

The next decision was to strip her down and feed her without clothes:

For now on, we are going to feed her in the highchair.

Merry Christmas

Between working, baking and last second shopping, I may not have time to sit down and wish everyone a Merry Christmas. I don't know what to expect since this is the first Christmas with Kara. I know she is too young for the excitement but we still have to factor in her nap and eating times. Everyone knows with a baby, you are on their schedule, they are not on yours. This should be an interesting week. Although, she will be a happy baby while we are out with family we will experience a very cranky baby when we get home.

Doctor Appointment Update

On Tuesday, Kara had her 4 month checkup. She is happy and healthy.

She now weighs 16 pounds and 26 inches long. She is in the 95th percentile on the charts. The doctor is pleased in how well she is growing. She is still in 3-6 month clothing, but will soon be in 6-9 months. She has cut down in eating. She went from eating 36 oz to 30 oz. Since she is growing the doctor doesn't seem too concerned.

We also discussed starting her on solids. He wants us to try rice or oatmeal twice a day for a week then move onto baby food.

Kara also has her two bottom teeth and the top ones are coming in. My little girl wants to skip the baby food and move onto better things. Mommy won't let her ;o)

She has started to sit up on her own for a few seconds. Its funny watching her slump over until she throws a fit. She laughs at everything I do and thats the sweetest sound in the world. I am enjoying every second. Soon I won't be funny to her anymore. Thinking about that makes me sad.

KARA TURNS 4 MONTHS

Kara is offically 4 months old today. Time has really flown by. It seems like yesterday, I was reading my positive pregnancy test. She is now finding her voice and loves to yell and scream. Then when you look at her she laughs. Her eyes also gets huge when she goes into unfamiliar territory or when she hears unfamiliar sounds. Just like my camera phone says, "Say Cheese!"
I would write more, but its time to feed her and she is getting cranky.

A fun time in our household

Kara has two teeth coming in. It makes her sleepy and grouchy. I, on the other hand, have a migraine. This "companion" of mine has been around since Sunday night. The pain hasn't been too bad until yesterday afternoon. I thought my head was going to explode. I still worked but as soon as I was finished I headed straight for bed along with Kara. We just laid there watching TV. When she finally dozed off, I dozed off. I had her in the bed with me so I could hear and feel her moving when she woke up. To my amazement, she fell asleep at 6:30 and just woke up this morning at 7:45. I still have the pain, but its not as bad as yesterday afternoon. I just hope it doesn't get like yesterday. I have housework to do and I feel bad for spending the whole night in bed. Sometimes, we mothers need a break and I guess the migraine was a way to remind me.

Jesus is better than Santa

I recieved this in my email box earlier this morning. I love Christmas. I love how it makes everything seem so magical. While we are busy with the hustle and bustle, I try to remember the reason for the holiday.

Jesus is Better than Santa

Santa lives at the North Pole.
JESUS is everywhere.
Santa rides in a sleigh
JESUS rides on the wind and walks on the water.
Santa comes but once a year
JESUS is an ever present help.
Santa fills your stockings with goodies
JESUS supplies all your needs.
Santa comes down your chimney uninvited
JESUS stands at your door and knocks..
And then enters your heart.
You have to stand in line to see Santa
JESUS is as close as the mention of His name.
Santa lets you sit on his lap
JESUS lets you rest in His arms.
Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is
"Hi little boy or girl, What's your name?"
JESUS knew our name before we did.
Not only does He know our name,
He knows our address too.
He knows our history and future and He
even knows how many hairs are on our heads.
Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly
JESUS has a heart full of love.
All Santa can offer is HO HO HO
JESUS offers health, help and hope.
Santa says "You better not cry"
JESUS says "Cast all your cares on me
for I care for you.
Santa's little helpers make toys
JESUS makes new life, mends wounded hearts,
repairs broken homes and builds mansions.
Santa may make you chuckle but
JESUS gives you joy that is your strength.
While Santa puts gifts under your tree
JESUS became our gift and died on the tree.
It's obvious there is really no comparison.
We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.
We need to put Christ back in Christmas.
Jesus is still the reason for the season.

Its Offical

The main computer of the house is dead. We got 7 years out of it but never saved our pictures because the disk drive broke and we keep putting off getting a new one. I'm just glad I never deleted Kara's pictures off the camera. Something was telling me to keep them on there.

Now Kara news...

She has started teeting (early according to everyone). She has 2 front teeth growing. They don't seem to bother her. She just drools alot and keeps both hands in her mouth. We go through 3 bibs a day. If I don't put a bib on, her shirts get soaked. She is also starting to hold toys and other objects. In a few days (the 16th) she goes for her 4 month appointment. At this appointment we will discuss starting foods and she will get her vaccines.
